# data from sql server to bigquery

## The problem I’m having

I would like to upload data from sql server to bigquery

## The context of why I’m trying to do this

transferring data

## What I’ve already tried

I have on core-sqlserver project and core-bigquery project (really new here…)

## Some example code or error messages

looking for a dbt\_project.yml with the right profiles.yml to define the sql-server as source and bigquery as destination

A common approach is to use an ETL tool like [Skyvia](https://skyvia.com/data-integration/integrate-mysql-google-bigquery), Fivetran, or Airbyte to extract data from SQL Server and load it into BigQuery. Once the data is in BigQuery, you can configure dbt with the BigQuery adapter and define models for transformations.

Indeed, you are right, I currently use nifi and kedro to load the data to BQ and then… dbt.
