# Generated document description for datatest

Hi,

How do you add the “Description” to a test, so that when you build the documentation on a project it populates this field within the documentation:

Hi David! If nothing has changed since ~ 7 months ago, I don’t think you currently can 🙂  
[And I don’t think it has (changed) since [the relevant issue](https://github.com/fishtown-analytics/dbt/issues/2578) is still open]  
I had exactly the same question, which i posted into the dbt slack, and got some interesting suggestions/ workarounds/ temporary placeholder solutions, but I think we are still waiting on that issue to be closed to achieve the end result you and I are hoping for! 🤞
