Hi everyone,
I recently took the dbt Analytics Engineer certification and unfortunately didn’t pass.
I felt quite confident during the exam and was surprised by the result, as I believe I answered a majority of questions correctly.
That’s why I wanted to check something:
Are there any scoring rules where a multiple-choice question is marked entirely incorrect if just one of the selected options is wrong — even if the others are correct?
In other words, do you get 0 points if you miss one correct answer or include one wrong one?
Also, are there any negative points or penalties for incorrect selections in multiple-answer questions?
Hi, as per official guide –
Scoring
The exam is scored on a point basis, with 1 point for each correct answer, and 0 points for
incorrect answers. All questions are weighted equally.
An undisclosed number of unscored questions will be included on each exam. These are
unmarked and indistinguishable from scored questions. Answers to these questions will be
used for research purposes only, and will not count towards the score.
My Question
what practice tests you took to prep yourself for the exam ? Qana labs ? or certexperts ?
Thank you!
When it comes to questions that include 4 parts (like a question divided into 4 sub-items), do you need to get all 4 parts correct to earn the point? What happens if you answer 3 correctly and leave the last one blank — do you still get 0?**
As for practice tests, I’d say Qana Labs wasn’t very helpful in my experience.
What really worked for me was carefully reading the official documentation and taking detailed notes. I’d recommend memorizing some of the more advanced commands — especially those involving flags like --select state:modified
, etc.
Its not clear that how are they ranking multiple answer question. based on their official guide if its plain 1 and 0 then I would imagine, if you mark any one as incorrect and 2 correct , then its 0 all together.
