How to proceed with dbt Fundamentals course as individual without data platform access

Hi everyone, I’m trying to complete the dbt Fundamentals course to strengthen my skillset. I’m doing so as an individual on a trial account and with no data platform access, so I’m hitting the wall at the “Set up dbt Cloud” portion of the course. There is no guidance on what to do without data platform access. Is this just something I have to set up for myself then? I have no experience doing that and wouldn’t know how to go about it. If I do need to do it myself, does anyone have any recommendations for how I can do so for free? I tried to do some Google searching on it, and was directed toward Fivetran for some kind of free PostgreSQL option, and hit the wall there because they were telling me I already had an account (I’ve never even heard of Fivetran in my life).

Long story short, I’m wondering if I have to handle the data platform of this course on my own, and if so, how I can create one for myself to use for FREE. Thanks in advance.

You can set up a trial account on several data platforms.

In fact, the dbt Fundamentals course provides links to some of the most popular ones.

The section is “Set Up dbt Cloud for the First Time”, and you’ll find all these links there:

I have used Bigquery and I still have access to that account and dbt project to do some testing.
