Hi, My name is Soumitra Dutta, an Oxford-based entrepreneur & photographer. I’m trying to set up dbt in my development environment but could use some guidance.

What’s your recommended approach for getting started? Are there any tips, common pitfalls to avoid, or best practices for configuring dbt locally?

Start with dbt Core (not Cloud) for local development.

Hi Soumitra,

And start with a cloud warehouse (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake) - dbt connects to it and runs your transformations there as SQL
