The problem I’m having
The Current Snowflake Python Connector that dbt Cloud is running will be going out of Support as informed by our Cloud Admin Team.
I’m trying to upgrade this connector, but I cant find the exact location on where to update this.
dbt Cloud Version: Running with dbt=1.7.18
Client Driver: PythonConnector 3.12.1
Client Driver Info:
…
Application: dbt
Python Version: 3.11.14
…
Minimum supported version - 3.3.1
Recommended Version - 3.17.1
The context of why I’m trying to do this
Need to update my dbt Cloud Platform’s Snowflake Python Connector to conform with my Orgs policies.
What I’ve already tried:
The current packages.yml dont mention anything about snowflake python connector library. So I assume its handled by the latest dbt Cloud version I currently im using.
Well, for starters:
> dbt Cloud Version: Running with dbt=1.7.18
v1.7 Initial Release Nov 2, 2023 End of Life
https://docs.getdbt.com/docs/dbt-versions/core#latest-releases
There’s no direct control over the Python connector, it is tied to the Snowflake adapter, which is tied to the dbt Core version you are running.
So check the version upgrade guides https://docs.getdbt.com/docs/dbt-versions/core-upgrade and get up and running with a newer version :dbt-spin:

Whoops, I got the Cloud and Core a bit mixed up here, but not too badly.
There’s also a Cloud specific upgrade guide with some guidance on testing changes: https://docs.getdbt.com/docs/dbt-versions/upgrade-dbt-version-in-cloud

It seems the production environment had the Latest version but the development environment was set to 1.7. Upgraded to Latest and looks good.
Thanks!
