Hello all! I’m working on open sourcing a BI tool that we created. It pairs well with dbt. Looking for name suggestions. Please help. Thanks!
Hi Ajo! Can you describe some of the tool strengths as a seed for inspiration?

Hey Marcelo! thanks for responding. So it been an amazing alternative to Looker for us. We use it to enable our non-technical domain experts to self serve reports and visualizations. The key strength is in its semantic layer and cross platform agg awareness. So we can build our dbt models and export critical datasets into our in memory olap store (druid) and/or less critical data into a trino backed cluster.
• yaml based semantic config ( no need to learn lookml )
• automatic data blending based in query
• cross platform agg aware
• No need to build explores, report builders etc., prompted reports. Grain aware UI guides the users

Looking for some concepts, I came across ‘arteria,’ which seemed to me like a great concept related to aggregation and worked as a great analogy for data flow.
So then, I tried to use this to match another concept related to visualization and reporting, enabling me to compose a new, unique, short word. I played through these options.
Hope it at least serves as inspiration in the search.
• Artersight
• Arterchart
• Arterflow
• Arterswift
• Arterix

Really cool, actually gave me more ideas to think over. Btw what viz/reporting tools do you use?

PowerBI, Tableu, Metabase and I recently tested Omni.

What did you think of metabase

I really like it, it is pretty simple and straightforward to use. It is a time saver tool compared to other options, conversely it lacks more advanced charts/options for maps and some other customizations. But unless you want very custom, fancy looking charts/reports it is a great and very stable tool with a clean interface.
